Dancers

Information

Combining classical music with movement is something the trio have always been interested in doing. The Larisa trio have been working with Excessive Human Collective since June 2018. Recent graduates from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, they have joined the trio in Manchester, where they have been working with Manchester-based composer Aidan Maier.

In November 2018 they premiered their first collaborative piece together entitled 'WOMEN'. In commemoration of the centenary of the end of the First World War, the piece focuses on how the perception of women has changed since 1918. The idea of shifting societal norms around women was central to the process and the development of the work. Over the course of the piece the piano trio is disrupted from its traditional set up, interacting with the dancers freely through improvisation. Taking impetus from the dancers' interference allows a reflection on the societal changes over the past 100 years.
